It's not a revolutionary device, but it is a step beyond the Kindle. netbookspoint.com had an interesting article on this, if I had to guess I'd say that more than one killer app is going to be developed for it that will make it practical beyond life as an ebook/second computer/big IPod and open niches where it sells well.

"I also like my newspapers and books being old school paper and hardback. I like them being authentic."

- I understand, but I still think this device will be a game changer, even that we like reading real magazines or books. Take a look at this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntyXvLnxyXk. This is how we gonne use media in the future - no matter how much we love old school paper.

And the device will just lay home on the table with access to 1000s of books and interactive magazines ready to be purchased and downloaded instantly. Thats a game changer. I had the same feeling with Kindle(witch I have and love), but iPad just killed it.

Thanks for the comment Tommy. The post was very much from my own personal point of view and I'm not a typical home user. I can safely say I will still use a normal laptop which at the moment is the 13" macbook unibody because it's an 'all-in-one' solution for me personally. This is why i said it's like an introductory piece of hardware, I can see a lot of families owning a slate (iPad) as an introduction Apple piece to the home.

I've never had a love for netbooks, I personally don't 'get them'. It's like a half assed attempt at a laptop. I suppose in time we'll see how it pans out and how far they go. At the moment it's not something I personally want or need.

The iPad is gonne change how we use the typical home computer.
Surfing - youtube - music - blogs - email etc.

If you cant see the need for this for yourself, then you should as a designer or entrepreneur see the enormous potential this device has for everyone else.

Interactive Magazines or newspapers is gonne be a big one. Imagine Newspapers with living pictures delivered automatically every morning.

Im so sick n tired of reading people meh @ iPad or is "underwhelmed".
If they are designers or entrepreneurs they should be frikking excited!

iPad is a Netbook killer. We all need it, but we dont know it yet.
